Andreas Ziegler studied genetics and biochemistry at the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt and the Universität Heidelberg, both in Germany. Work for the diploma thesis was carried out at the Max-Planck-Institut für Medizinische Forschung in Heidelberg. He was then trained at the Basel Institute for Immunology in Switzerland (doctoral dissertation) and the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK. Following work at the universities of Tübingen and Marburg, he became the director of the Institut für Immungenetik (Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Virchow-Klinikum, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin). He is interested in the biology of gene clusters, structure-function relationships of immunologically relevant membrane molecules and selection processes within the immune and reproductive systems. | Home page
